Back Pain During Pregnancy

Pregnancy exercises to relieve back pain.

Pelvic Tilt

  • Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
  • Bend your knees slightly
  • Put one hand on your bump and one on your lower back.
  • Tip your pelvis slowly back and forth so your tummy stick out more and then back the other way to flattern your lumbar curve.
  • Repeat 10 times
  • If this is comfortable, then try it on your hands and knees.

 

Pelvic tilt on hands and knees

  • This exercise is great when you have back ache.
  • Keep your hands on the floor and tip your pelvis backwards and forwards
  • Repeat 10 times

 

Lumbar spine stretches

  • Sit with your bum on your heels and your knees apart
  • Lean forward stretching your arms our in front of you and resting your elbows on the ground
  • Hold for a few seconds

 

Thoracic spine stretches

  • Many women get sore between their shoulder blades during pregnancy.
  • Stretching your pectoral muscles helps relieve this ache
  • Lie face up on a stack of cushions on the floor
  • Put your arms out 90 degrees and let them hang down to floor.
  • relax for 20 deep breathes
